Coaching Team
Scott McIntire Head Coach

Coach Scott has had an impressive and varied career in competitive swimming, both as an athlete and as a coach. His journey began with a solid foundation in the Central Maryland Swim League, swimming for clubs like SPY and HCY before transitioning to Navy Juniors at the United States Naval Academy. His collegiate career was marked by significant achievements at Anne Arundel Community College and Towson State University, where he excelled and earned several accolades, including NJCAA 1st team All-American, multiple 1st team all-conference selections and outstanding male athlete.

In the coaching realm, Coach Scott has extensive experience. Before moving to the Delmarva area, his early coaching roles included stints at Pointer Ridge and Bulldog Swim Clubs. Most recently he made notable contributions as a Senior Age Group coach at MAKO Swim Club. His leadership was particularly impactful at the Barracuda Swim Team (BST) and Mid-Delmarva YMCA (MDY), where he served as Head Coach for a combined 21 years. Kim Wanner Coach

Coach Kim began swimming at age 3 and competing at 4 with Wilmington Aquatic Club (WAC) under Hall of Fame Coach Bob Mattson, in a mechanics focused program, where the focus was "swim smarter, not harder" and with endurance training. She went on to represent the Mid-Atlantic LSC at Eastern Zone meets, was a Jr. and Sr. National Qualifier, U.S. Open Qualifier and competed in meets across the country speciailizing in IM and breaststroke.

Kim's love of teaching began when she was in her late teens and she started teaching swimming lessons under the direction of Peggy Swiderski, an 8 and under lesson program/coach, who taught many swimmers that went on to become National Swimmers on the USA Swimming circuit. After relocating to the Eastern Shore in 2008, she connected with Coach Scott McIntire when he was the Head Coach for MDY, and continued her coaching career. She joined OPST in 2017, serving in various roles over the years - including Head Coach from 2019-2021. During her tenure, she continued to help transition OPST into a competitive USA Swimming program, with our first OPST sectionals qualifier. With the support of assistant coaches, the board and collaborations with other local teams, guided them through the challenges of the pandemic - keeping swimmers training and competing safely.

After stepping down as Head Coach to focus on family and career, Kim continued to be involved with the existing program guiding stroke development and mechanics across all levels. In 2023, she launched the OPST Pups Program for 8-and-unders, which has flourished with strong support from Coach Michelle. Coach Kim's coaching philosophy is rooted in her passion for stroke mechanics and the science of swimming and the desire to pass on the gift she was given, both in and out of the pool, by all of her coaches.

Joy Fink Coach

Joy began swimming competitively at the age of 7 and swam on the Newburgh Sharks club team in Newburgh, NY. She represented the Metropolitan LSC at Eastern Zone Meets, and was a Jr. National qualifier in the 50, 100 & 200 freestyle as well as a member of Sr. National relays. She swam 4 years in college at St. Bonaventure University and was a member of 2 Atlantic-10 Conference Championship Teams, All-Conference Team, and Conference Rookie of the Year.

Coaching wise, she served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for St. Bonaventure and assisted at summer swim camps held on campus. Throughout college, she spent her summers guarding and teaching swim lessons. Joy also brings her knowledge and passion for the sport of swimming to the team as the current USA Swimming Membership Coordinator.

Michelle Trimper Coach

Michelle began her competitive swimming career at age 5.  Summer swimming for the Damascus Dolphins quickly led to swimming year-round where she had the opportunity to swim for Monocacy Aquatic Club, Green Terror Aquatic Club and then Eagles Swim Team.  Her dedication and determination led her to become a six time qualifier for the Maryland Zone Team.  Michelle then continued her swimming career into college, swimming for Wingate University in North Carolina.

Michelle was an avid breaststroker and IMer.  She is passionate about the sport and teaching the new, young swimmers what they are capable of.  Michelle taught swimming lessons to all age groups throughout high school and college and is eager to join the Pups groups in the pool.

Clinton Bagley Coach

My swim journey took off with Monocacy Swim Club in Frederick MD, where I spent five transformative years in the pool. At Frederick High School, I was honored to be named Swimmer of the Year in both my junior and senior years and was a runner-up for County Swimmer of the Year in 1997. Training under the legendary Don Feinburg and alongside a third-place US Olympic qualifier fueled my competitive spirit and sharpened my skills.

While still swimming, I discovered my love for coaching. I became an Assistant Swim Coach at the Frederick YMCA from 1996 to 2000, where I led training sessions, offered technical guidance, and watched swimmers achieve their goals. I also took pride in teaching swim lessons at the YMCA and Frederick Parks and Rec, guiding swimmers of all ages to master the water.

With over four years of coaching experience, I’m driven to help swimmers push their limits, refine their technique, and boost their performance. I’m excited to bring my energy and expertise to inspire the next generation of swimmers at OPST.

Josh McIntire Coach

Coach Josh has been immersed in the sport of swimming for more than 16 years, competing at levels ranging from state championships to international events. He earned a state title in the 200 butterfly and went on to represent the United States on two National Lifeguarding Teams, competing in South Padre, Texas, and Durban, South Africa.

Alongside his competitive career, Coach Josh dedicated nearly 10 years to coaching in a volunteer capacity and is thrilled to be sharing his knowledge and love for the water with swimmers of all ages here at OPST. His background as both an athlete and coach gives him a unique perspective on the technical, physical, and mental aspects of the sport. Coach Josh is excited to help swimmers not only refine their strokes and racing strategies but also to help build confidence, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for swimming.
